What is a CTF?

A Capture-the-Flag (CTF) event is a cybersecurity competition designed to teach and test a variety of computer skills. Hack Havoc, hosted by Cybermaterial, is a bi-weekly CTF tournament where participants solve various challenges to find "flags." The goal is to learn and improve your cybersecurity skills, so you're encouraged to research and use the internet during the competition.

What is a Flag?

In a CTF challenge, a "flag" is a string of text that participants need to find and submit for points. Flags can be obtained by solving specific challenges, which might involve exploiting vulnerabilities, decrypting messages, or completing other cybersecurity tasks. Each challenge will provide you with the information you need to get started.

When is the Next CTF?

Hack Havoc is a bi-weekly event, with winners declared at the end of each month. Check Cybermaterial’s website or social media for the exact dates of upcoming events.
